Wilkins won't make late play for Glasgow

The in-form Pulse goal attack and former Silver Fern Donna Wilkins has dismissed any possibility of a late bid to be part of the New Zealand netball team's Commonwealth Games campaign.

With the Silver Ferns attack circle, not as dominant as could be expected over the past 18 months, Wilkins could add some starch to the lineup.

The 36-year-old played the last of her 64 Tests for the Silver Ferns in 2002, although Silver Ferns coach Wai Taumaunu did ask her last year if she was interested in competing in Glasgow.

Wilkins declined the offer then and despite a strong performance against the Silver Fern defensive combination of Casey Kopua and Leanna de Bruin, in the Pulse's win over the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic this week, says her position hasn't changed.

She says she doesn't have the desire to play in Glasgow and even if she did, wouldn't make herself available at this late stage as it would be unfair on other players who've been part of the Silver Ferns programme.
