NRL investigates homophobic slur

The National Rugby League is investigating an alleged homophobic slur made during the under-20s State of Origin match on Saturday.

The League's chief executive Dave Smith says he's disappointed at reports that a Queensland player was the subject of an offensive remark during the match against New South Wales.

Smith says rugby league is for everyone and he's determined to stamp out discrimination in the game.

Smith says the League's Match Review Committee will be asked to review television coverage of the game to determine if anyone should be cited.

He says the committee has the power to fine or suspend anyone guilty of vilification.
