Salford sign Warrior Locke

6:30 am on 3 May 2014

Warriors fullback Kevin Locke will leave the Auckland side after signing a deal to head to the UK's Super League with Salford.

The 25-year-old lost his starting spot after the Warriors signed England star Sam Tomkins.

Locke's signed a three-year contract with the Red Devils, whose ambitious owner Marwan Koukash hailed the deal as evidence of his determination to transform the fortunes of last year's wooden spooners.

Koukash says Locke is one of the most exciting talents in the game, and the signing proves that they will be competitive at the very top of the sport.

Locke was at fullback for New Zealand in November's World Cup final at Manchester in England.

He has not played since due to a knee injury

Locke will link up with his new teammates for pre-season training in October.
