The New Zealand heavyweight boxer Joseph Parker remains undefeated and is the new WBA Pan Asian interim title holder after beating Brazilian Marcelo Nascimento by technical knockout in Germany.

Parker made a perfect start to his 8th pro bout knocking the six-foot-five Nascimento down with a powerful right hook in the opening round.

The New Zealander continued to dominate through the first five rounds before being caught with some heavy shots in the sixth as a large cut opened above his left eye.

The cut re-opened in the seventh round which spurred Parker into a flurry of hooks as he first rattled and then swarmed the Brazilian before the referee stopped the fight.

The 22-year-old's professional record improves to 8 wins 0 losses with seven knockouts.

Parker was fighting on the undercard of the world heavyweight title bout between Ukranian Wladimir Klitschko and Australian challenger Alex Leapai, which was won by the champion with a fifth round knockout.

The win was Klitschko's 62nd career victory.
