The roar of the V8s will be heard again this weekend at Pukekohe Park near Auckland, and amongst the Fords and Holdens tearing up the track will be the debut here of the Volvo V8s.

Cantabrian Scott McLaughlin's driving a Volvo in tomorrow's first of four races - the 20-year-old is 10th in the overall championship, heading into the weekend.

McLaughlin says the Volvos are competitive against the traditional V8s powerhouses of Holden and Ford.

Last year McLaughlin became the youngest ever winner in V8 Supercars history at just 19, when he took out the opening race at Pukekohe.
