The New Zealand women's hockey team has missed out on a spot in the finals of the 6-nations tournament in Hastings, after going down to Australia 4-2.
Anita Punt and Sian Fremaux scored for the Black Sticks in the first half and the home side trailed by one at the break.
But the hosts weren't able to find the back of the net in the second half.
Punt says they had their chances but just couldn't capitalise and lacked discipline at times.
She says they also succumbed to some of the physicality of the Australians and got pushed off the ball.
The Black Sticks will now meet China in the bronze medal match tomorrow, a team they lost to earlier in the tournament.
