Another Jamaican sprinter cops 18 months for doping

The Jamaican Olympic track gold medalist Sherone Simpson has been banned for 18 months after testing positive for a banned stimulant during last June's Jamaican trials.

Simpson, who admitted the violation, is the second Jamaican athlete to be banned this week. The Olympic discus thrower Allison Randall was suspended for two years after she also failed a drugs test during the 2013 national trials.

Simpson was one of five Jamaicans to test positive at last years national championships, including the former mens world 100 metres record holder Asafa Powell who will learn of his fate on Friday.
