Foxes poised for promotion

10:34 am on 5 April 2014

The All Whites striker Chris Wood's Leicester City club are on the brink of promotion to English football's Premier League, after beating visitors Sheffield Wednesday 2-1.

Leicester now need just one more win to guarantee automatic promotion from the Championship, while the big-spending Foxes, who are owned by a Thai consortium backed by chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, could earn a place in the top flight on Sunday, if other results go their way.

Leicester, who were last in the Premier League in 2004, will be promoted if third-placed Queen's Park Rangers lose at Bournemouth and fourth-placed Derby fail to beat Middlesbrough.

With six games to go, the Foxes are 10 points clear of second-placed Burnley and 19 points above QPR.
