Lee capitulates in Florida

The Rotorua golfer Danny Lee has imploded to drop from a share of the lead to miss the cut after the second round of the latest PGA Tour event in Florida.

Lee started the day on three under par in a four-way tie on top of the leaderboard, only to fall to five over and 98th place, after recording seven bogeys and one double bogey for an eight over 79.

The 23-year-old wasn't alone in blowing out - two-time major champion John Daly suffered the worst round of his career on the same course, firing a 19-over par 90 that included an octuple-bogey 12 at the 16th hole.

Lee finished second at Puerto Rico last week, but is still seeking his first Tour title and will be gutted with this turn of events.

The winner of the tournament pockets more than a million dollars and qualifies for next month's Masters.
