The British sailor Ben Ainslie says he's making good progress on putting together a $160 million British challenge for the next America's Cup.

Ainslie, a four-times Olympic champion, helped Oracle Team USA to rally from 8-1 down to beat Team New Zealand in San Francisco.

Ainslie now wants to lead a British syndicate to a first win since the race began in 1851 and is expecting details soon on the rules and protocols for the next edition, likely to be held in 2017.

A British challenge will need deep pockets to compete with the American team that enjoys the backing of Oracle's founder, software billionaire Larry Ellison.

Ainslie says he's already had interest from investors who'd contribute around 35 percent of his budget, with sponsors funding the rest.
