The veteran Brad Hodge hit two sixes in the final over to propel Australia to a five-wicket victory over South Africa in a Twenty20 cricket international in Durban.
After Australia won the toss in a game reduced to seven overs aside because of the weather, South Africa made 80 for one and appeared on course for victory with the tourists needing 15 runs from the last six balls to win.
That was reduced to 13 from four but 39-year-old Hodge hit two sixes to the mid-wicket boundary to guide his side to 81 for five with two balls to spare.
The teams now head into Saturday's final match in the series with Australia leading 1-0 after the first game in Port Elizabeth was washed out without a ball being bowled.
