Jets players involved in training ground bust-up

Newcastle Jets football team-mates Mark Birighitti and Taylor Regan have been involved in a training ground bust-up.

Tensions flared between the goalkeeper and Regan during training at Ray Watt Oval with team-mates forced to separate them.

Regan appeared to have come off second best sporting a split left eye with blood steaming down his face as he left the field.

It is not known what caused the outburst between the two.

The Jets are preparing for the F3 derby against the Central Coast on Saturday, having beaten Melbourne Heart on the weekend to keep their A-League finals hope alive.

They sit just a point outside the top six with only five games remaining before the playoffs.
