Despite making his international football debut in a 4-2 loss to Japan, the 19 year old All Whites midfielder Ryan Thomas says he will return to his Dutch club Zwolle full of confidence.

Thomas was one of two debutants in the match in Tokyo last night the other being the Wellington Phoenix striker Tyler Boyd.

The All Whites conceded four goals in the opening 17 minutes but two goals from Chris Wood gave them a respectable 4-2 finish.

Thomas says it took a little while to adjust to the pace of the game but he soon felt comfortable in the environment.
