Pocock key to extra special performance from Brumbies against Hurricanes

The ACT Brumbies skipper Ben Mowen says his side will use Wallabies flanker David Pocock's season-ending kneen injury as a catalyst for an extra special Super Rugby performance against the Hurricanes in Wellington on Friday night.

Pocock suffered the injury in Saturday's win over the Western Force in Perth, re-rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.

He's now had a full reconstruction on his left knee, the same surgery he had last season after rupturing ligaments.

But rather than be distracted by the disappointing news, Mowen says his side will use it as motivation in Wellington.

Pocock's injury leaves the Brumbies chasing a replacement with 111-Test international George Smith who replaced Pocock last year, a possible contender.

He returns to Australia next week after playing in Japan and intends taking a break before joining French second division club Lyon on a two-year deal in September.
