Two test series wins over India and the West Indies are cause for celebration in New Zealand cricket circles but coach Mike Hesson still has plenty to ponder before the Black Caps next test assignment in the Carribean in May.
The opening batting partnership of Peter Fulton and Hamish Rutherford is struggling although Hesson appears loathe to make any change.
Fulton posted a half century against the West Indies in the opening test but in his eight test knocks since he's totalled just 62 runs at an average of 13.
Hamish Rutherford is making starts but hasn't made a half century in his last eight innings.
But Hesson says runs don't tell the complete story as they lost several key tosses and Rutherford and Fulton did well to see off the new ball.
The Black Caps immediate tour though is to Bangladesh next month for the Twenty20 World Cup.
Meanwhile Brendon McCullum's triple century has has helped him jump eight places to a career-high 12th in the test batting ratings.
South Africa's AB de Villiers holds onto the top spot.
