More certainty for A-League owners

Owners of A-League football clubs will have more certainty regarding their investment in the game now that Football Federation Australia has agreed to extend the length of club licences until 2034.

The FFA made the decision has made the decision after prolonged consultation with owners for the past year.

Current licences had had an existing term running until 2020.

But the decision applies only to the nine Australian clubs as Wellington Phoenix's situation beyond 2016 is subject to approval from the world governing body FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation.

The board meeting also ratified a change in the number of visa players each club is allowed.

Each club will be limited to five visa players for next season but that will be reduced to four come the 2015-16 season.
