Howell wins freetsyle skiing slopestyle gold

Canadian teenager Dara Howell nailed her first run in the final to win the first Olympic gold medal in women's freestyle skiing slopestyle at the Sochi Games.

The 19-year-old former figure skater, who led the way in qualifying and so started last, scored an imposing 94.20 and was able to celebrate her victory before coasting through her final run.

Devin Logan of the United States claimed silver, while Kim Lamarre took bronze for Canada.

New Zealander Anna Wilcox was 15th in qualifying with the top 12 going through to the final.
