The All Whites played the second half with 10 men after defender Ivan Vicelich was sent off just before half-time.
Shane Smeltz equalised from the penalty spot after the All Whites conceded a goal in the first minute.
The debutant striker Rory Fallon headed in the second goal just before the break and Smeltz got the third midway through the second spell.
