Football considers sin bins, video replays

7:34 am on 4 February 2014

World football's rule makers will be meeting early next month to discuss the possible use of sin bins and video replays to help referees.

The inclusion of video replays on the agenda is something of a surprise, as football has in general been wary of using any form of technology to help match officials.

The game's controlling body FIFA has emphasised that both proposals will be for discussion only at this stage, but could be submitted for further examination.

The controversial "triple punishment", for a player who concedes a penalty, is sent off, then has to serve an automatic suspension, will also be on the agenda at the meeting in Zurich on March 1.
