Magic begin quest for second ANZ Championship title

New Zealand's most successful netball franchise, the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic, begin their quest for a second trans-Tasman netball title in earnest this weekend with two pre-season games against Central Pulse in New Plymouth.

With players arriving from a variety of destinations following international commitments, new Magic coach Julie Fitzgerald will have her full squad together for the first time.

Involved this weekend will be England international Jo Harten, Courtney Tairi lands tomorrow to join captain Casey opua, Leana de Bruin and Malia Paseka who have missed much of the side's recent build-up due to the Silver Ferns recent tour of Britain.

Kopua is still recovering from off-season ankle surgery and won't play this weekend but wil be on hand and Fitzgerald is confident she'll be fit in time for the side's opening match against the Canterbury Tactix on March 1st.
