Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre has been fined $10,000 by the National Football League for an illegal 'crack-back block' in a pre-season game against the Houston Texans.

Favre, who changed his mind about retiring during the off-season, was lined up at receiver when he lunged at defensive back Eugene Wilson with a banned low challenge to the legs.

The challenge is considered particularly dangerous and Wilson injured his knee.

39-year-old Favre announced his retirement after a disappointing end to last season with the New York Jets but opted to come back with the Vikings.
