Panel to carry out review of Warriors dire NRL season

6:44 pm on 1 September 2009

An independent review of the Warriors rugby league club is being carried out by a group of former top level sports people in the wake of the club's disappointing NRL season.

After making the playoffs for the past two years the Warriors sit 14th in the 16 team competition heading into their final game this weekend.

Chief executive Wayne Scurrah says a more rigorous review process than usual given the club's poor performance.

The review group is made up of former Warriors players Monty Betham and Awen Guttenbeil, former-Kiwis captain Hugh McGahan and former New Zealand softballer Dean Rice.

Scurrah says everyone acknowledges their efforts this year haven't been acceptable particularly with one of the club's primary goals being to establish itself as a regular finals club.
