The Royal Challengers Bangalore have announced that Daniel Vettori will take over as head coach of the Indian Premier League cricket team.

Vettori has been a player with the team for the past three years and captained the side and is currently playing for the Brisbane Heat in Australia's Big Bash.

The 34-year-old ex-Black Caps captain will be assisted by Trent Woodhill and Allan Donald.

Vettori's playing career has been blighted by injury in recent years and he has been involved in coaching during that time.

He replaces Ray Jennings as coach at Bangalore.

Stephen Fleming and John Wright also coach in the IPL.
