3 NZ tennis players beaten at Heineken Open

The 3 New Zealand tennis players hoping to qualify for the main draw of the Heineken Open in Auckland have been beaten.

Michael Venus lost in straight sets to world number 90 Lukas Lacko of Slovakia.

Russian-born New Zealander Artem Sitak lost in 3 sets to world number 96 Donald Young of ther United States, while Sebastian Lavie lost in straight sets to Spain's Daniel Gimeno-Traver.

New Zealand number one Rubin Statham has a wildcard and will play a qualifier in the first round tomorrow.

He is the only New Zealander in the singles main draw.
