New Zealand tennis champion Sacha Jones has bowed out in the first round of qualifying for the Auckland women's tennis Classic.
Jones was handed a wildcard into qualifying but was beaten 6-4 6-7 4-6 by Japan's Sachie Ishizu.
Joining Ishizu in the second round of qualifying so far are top seed Coco Vandeweghe and two other Americans, Irina Falconi and Shelby Rogers, along with Lucie Hradecká of the Czech Republic, France's Irena Pavlovic, Dutchwoman Richel Hogenkamp, Canada's Sharon Fichman, Germany's Kristina Barrois, Aleksandra Navdenova of Bulgaria and Anett Kontaveit of Estonia.
There are four qualifiers spots up for grabs - two of the successful qualifiers will face 2010 champion Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium and fourth seeded Romanian Sorana Cirstea, but the other two will play each other in the first round.
