Netball Fiji says the government's offer of funding to sign a head coach from overseas is not a case of political interference.
They've dumped local-based coach Una Rokoura after the Fiji government provided the funding on the condition that new appointment was an experienced international mentor.
Netball Fiji president Wainikiti Bogidrau says currently the job is done on a part-time voluntary basis and the funding boost will allow them to appoint a full-time head coach.
She says the government already funds most of their activities anyway.
Rokoura's contract was due to expire shortly and Wainikiti Bogidrau says she is welcome to reapply for the role.
