Flynn and Ellis back for Canterbury

11:49 am on 20 August 2009

All Blacks Corey Flynn and Andy Ellis are set to make their comebacks for Canterbury in the Air New Zealand Cup match against Tasman in Christchurch on Saturday afternoon.

Flynn broke his left arm in round two of the Rebel Sport Super 14 against the Brumbies in February and missed the rest of the competition... he's played for his Sydenham club on the past two weekends.

Ellis has recovered from rib fractures suffered in the Super 14... his last game was the semi-final against the Bulls in Pretoria.

Flynn and Ellis are on the reserves bench for the match against Tasman.

Another player returning from injury is wing Tu Umaga-Marshall, who will make his Canterbury debut as a replacement for James Paterson.

Other changes to the team which beat Waikato 46-13 are at loosehead prop, where Andrew Olorenshaw replaces Wyatt Crockett, lock where Luke Romano replaces Sam Whitelock, number 8 where Mike Coman comes in for Kieran Read and first-five where Stephen Brett comes in for Dan Carter.

Tim Bateman moves in from centre to second-five, replacing Ryan Crotty, with Adam Whitelock, who will be making his first start of the season, slotting in at centre.
