Breakers import Kerron Johnson is remaining upbeat despite dealing with a rough start to his career in the Australian National Basketball League.

In his first year as a professional, Johnson's struggling to lead the three-time defending champions as they've stuttered to a 2 and 6 start to the season.

Some pundits have called for the club to replace the American rookie, following his late turnover which cost them the last game at home to Adelaide.

But Breakers coach Dean Vickerman says they have no plans to replace him, and Johnson's taking the lessons out of the experience.

The 22-year-old says you have to take the mistakes as well as the good things and learn from them.

Centre Alex Pledger is a 60 percent chance of playing against Townsville on Friday after suffering a rib injury.
