All Whites blank press on arrival

11:56 am on 17 November 2013

The All Whites were in no mood to talk when they arrived in Wellington to begin preparations for the second leg against Mexico where they will need to overturn a 5-1 deficit to advance to the World Cup.

The All Whites were hammered in their intercontinental playoff on Thursday, all but ensuring Mexico's passage to next year's finals.

Coach Ricki Herbert and players blanked the press who had gathered at the airport on Saturday morning.

The All Whites kept nine players behind the ball to try to stymie El Tri's attacking momentum in Mexico, a tactic that has had a mixed reception.

New Zealand will have no choice but to attack in the return match on Wednesday when they need to score at least four goals to advance to their second successive finals.
