Spanish rookie Marc Marquez has become motorcycling's youngest MotoGP world champion, at the age of 20, after finishing third in the final race of the season in Valencia.
The Honda rider, who started from his ninth pole position of the season, played it safe by avoiding a thrilling tussle between the defending champion Jorge Lorenzo, the eventual winner, and Dani Pedrosa.
Marquez won the title by just four points from Lorenzo, breaking the American Freddie Spencer's 30-year-old points record for a season.
