The former Warriors rugby league player Sione Faumuina has been released from his contract with English club Castleford and returned to Australia.
28-year-old Faumuina joined Castleford on a 12-month contract at the start of the year and played in their first 21 League and Cup matches, but was dropped 6 weeks ago.
He departure is thought to be related to a breach of discipline but the club have declined to elaborate on the matter, insisting it is by mutual agreement.
The controversial Faumuina now faces an uncertain future after failing to repair a reputation damaged by previous brushes with authority.
He was sacked by the Warriors in 2006 following a series of alcohol-fuelled episodes and was last year given a final warning by North Queensland Cowboys after rolling his car in a single-vehicle accident.
A big disappointment during a three-match stint with Hull in 2005, Faumuina walked out on Harlequins despite signing a three-year contract on the eve of the 2007 season.
Faumuina played 2 tests for New Zealand.
