Black Caps need to win ODI series or slip down the rankings

7:59 am on 29 October 2013

The New Zealand men's cricketers' one day world ranking goes on the line against Bangladesh in the three-match series starting today in Dhaka.

The Black Caps must beat their hosts to retain their seventh place on the ICC rankings, or else they'll slip behind the West Indies into eighth.

World champions India have been guaranteed the number one spot after the last two ODIs in their seven-match series against Australia were washed out. Australia leads the series 2-1, with the penultimate match starting late tomorrow.

Pakistan will leapfrog South Africa into fifth place on the ODI team rankings if it wins the five-match series against the Proteas by 3-2 or better. That series begins in Sharjah midweek.
