The Silver Ferns coach Wai Taumaunu has described her sides performance as satisfactory as the opened their series against Malawi with a 70-32 win in Wellington.
With a new-look line-up the Ferns struggled at times early on but finished with a flourish, a 20 goals to five final quarter laying the foundation for further improvement.
Irene van Dyk and Jodi Brown combined in the shooting circle with van Dyk completing 39 goals from 44 shots and Brown 31 from 40.
Newcomer Te Huinga Selby-Rickit played well at goal defence, while Katrina Grant played in the unfamiliar position of wing defence.
Taumaunu says their new-look line took a while to settle into their rythym and she was reasonably happy with their possession and execution.
The second test is in Napier on Sunday.
