Geary breaks through for first pro tour victory

5:40 am on 14 October 2013

The New Zealand golfer Josh Geary has broken through for his first professional victory, a dominant five shot win at the West Australian Open.

A touring professional for six or seven years, Geary made no race of it on the final day, shooting a 7-under par 65 to win by five shots against a field that included the well-credentialled Australians Peter O'Malley, Nick O'Hern and Peter Lonard.

Geary's win gets him into next week's Perth International, Australia's richest tournament, and secures his Australasian Tour card for the remainder of this season and next year.
