Don't pick Sonny Bill Williams says former Kiwis coach

The former Kiwis coach Frank Endacott says Sonny Bill Williams shouldn't be a late inclusion in the New Zealand rugby league side for the world cup.

Endacott says having Williams in the side could be the difference winning and losing the title but says with coach Steve Kearney having named his side he needs to stick with it.

After initially making himself unavailable for the Kiwis Williams has had a change of heart and wants to play.

But if Kearney is to include him he'll have to drop one of the 24 players he's selected.

Endacott says he has sympathy for Kearney and his predicament but he couldn't tell a player he'd named in a team that he was no longer requerid, as it's something that would haunt him for the rest of his life.

He says if Williams had made himself available from the outset he'd be the first player picked.
