New Zealand's top rally driver Hayden Paddon has finished a mixed weekend at the Rally of Australia in fifth place in his WRC2 category.
Having missed all of Friday's stages due to an electrical issue, Paddon was the fastest WRC2 competitor on all six stages on Sunday, including first equal with Saudi driver Yazeed Al Rajhi on Special Stage 20.
Paddon won 10 of the 12 stages contested on Saturday and Sunday in his class and his best stage result was Special Stage 22, the power/final stage, when he was sixth quickest overall, beating full-time WRC drivers Mikko Hirvonen and Jari-Matti Latvala who were seventh and eighth quickest respectively behind the Geraldine driver in a considerably lower spec car.
Paddon's non-turbocharged Skoda has something like 265 horsepower and Hirvonen's turbocharged Citroën DC3 WRC has 300 horsepower.
