Carter out for rest of Rugby Championship

All Blacks playmaker Daniel Carter will miss the rest of the Rugby Championship with a shoulder injury.

His Canterbury team-mate Tom Taylor is set to be called up for the trip to Argentina.

Carter sustained the grade three tear in his AC joint early in Saturday night's 29-15 win over the Springboks in Auckland, after he fell awkwardly in a Bismark du Plessis tackle.

No one bar the French referee Romain Poite thought there was anything wrong with the hit but the South African hooker was yellow carded and later sent off, arguably ruining the contest.

But All Blacks coach Steve Hansen thought otherwise Poite had a good game in a tough fixture to officiate, and everybody makes mistakes.

Hansen says he thinks the first yellow card was a mistake but it'd be a shame if the test was remembered for the refereeing rather than what the athletes did out there.

Hansen says there's no decision yet on whether injured All Blacks captain Richie McCaw will travel to Argentina with the team.
