A contrite Counties Manukau coach Tana Umaga concedes if he wants to continue his rugby coaching career he needs to keep his emotions in check.
The New Zealand rugby union is to hold a misconduct hearing into critical comments Umaga made of referee Glenn Jackson's performance, in his side's loss to Auckland last week.
The announcement of the hearing comes just days after the highlight of Umaga's short coaching career, when he took Counties Manukau to their first-ever Ranfurly Shield success at the weekend.
Umaga says his emotions got the better of him in the Auckland match and he was wrong to make the comments and should have voiced his concerns through the proper channels.
Umaga says he's spoken to Jackson but wouldn't say what the conversation involved.
