There was no panic when injury forced Dan Carter out of the All Blacks, but the country may not be as calm with captain Richie McCaw to miss the next few tests.
McCaw suffered a knee injury in the win over Argentina on Saturday night and could be out of action for up to six weeks.
Coach Steve Hansen says Sam Cane is ready to fill McCaw's boots against the Springboks this weekend.
Hansen will welcome back Liam Meesam, Ma'a Nonu and Owen Franks from the injured list this week.
