The Twenty20 cricket batting sensation Thilkaratne Dilshan has been signed by Northern Districts for next summer.
The Sri Lankan was the highest runs scorer at the Twenty20 World Cup in England, at an average of 52 runs per innings and a strike rate of 144.
And in the Indian Premier League he was the fifth highest runscorer, averaging 42 at a strike rate of 122.
Northern's chief executive David Cooper says Dilshan's presence will help the Knights in much the same way Andrew Strauss did in early in 2008.
