The women's third seed Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland has become the biggest casualty at the U.S. Tennis Open in New York, bundled out of the tournament by Russia's Ekaterina Makarova.

Makarova, the 24th seed, won the fourth round match in straight sets 6-4 6-4, despite trailing four-love at one stage in the opening set.

Radwanska's loss leaves her out of the quarter-finals at a major for the first time this year.

It will be Makarova's first U.S. Open quarterfinal and she'll play fifth seed Li Na of China.

The men's top seed seed Novak Djokovic has roared into the fourth round of the U.S. Tennis Open with a straight sets win over

95th ranked Joao Sousa of Portugal.

Djokovic won 6-0 6-2 6-2 and is yet to lose a set at the tournament.
