The New Zealand motor racing driver Scott Dixon's Indy Car title hopes have suffered a setback, after he was penalised at the Sonoma Grand Prix in California, when he clipped a pit member of a rival team.

The incident happened with 15 laps to go when Dixon was leading but leaving pit lane hit one of Australian Will Power's pit crew.

Will Power went on to win the race with Dixon eventually finishing 15th and while he remains second overall on the drivers championship, has slipped further behind the leader Scotsman Dario Franchitti.
