The Sydney Roosters say they'll re-address their attitude towards alcohol, but the National Rugby League club's boss is denying claims they should revisit their decision not to sanction bad boys Jake Friend and Sandor Earl.
Friend and Earl were on yesterday selected to play against St George Illawarra on Friday night, just a day after the pair were charged with assault following an early-morning incident at a Sydney nightclub in which a woman was punched in the face.
The duo had been expected to be stood down pending their appearance in court in almost three weeks, but Roosters boss Steve Noyce says both players deserved the presumption of innocence.
Noyce says he will look at coming up with a new policy to deal with the drinking culture at the club, but warned of severe sanctions should either Friend or Earl be convicted.
A police statement says a 31-year-old Queensland woman was concussed and bruised during a nightclub brawl early on Sunday morning
Friend's been charged with assault and Earl with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
