Latu salvages place in Silver Ferns

After a disappointing performance in the trans-Tasman netball competition the Northern Mystics shooter Catherine Latu's trial form has saved her place in the Silver Ferns squad for the five test series against Australia.

Two new caps have been named, defender Te Huinga Reo Selby-Rickit and the Australian based midcourter Courtney Tairi.

Joline Henry returns after a year off due to pregnancy while the Tactix shooter Anna Thomspon misses out.

The Silver Ferns coach Wai Taumaunu says Thompson's unlucky but is likely to get a chance to play against Malawi later in the year.

Taumaunu says while Latu was disappointing in the trans-Tasman season she has performed well in the training camp this week and new assistant coach and former Australian international Vicky Wilson has done a lot of work with the shooters.
