Andrew Hore keen on sabbatical

6:39 am on 22 August 2013

The hooker Andrew Hore could be the next All Black to take a sabbatical with a view to extending his career.

He would follow in the footsteps of Richie McCaw, Dan Carter, and Conrad Smith, who will take a six-month break at the end of this year's Rugby Championship.

Hore says he would like to take part in the 2015 World Cup, but he'll be 37 by then and says that will be more realistic if he can take a rest.

He says he'd ideally like to take a time out after the Rugby Championship or in summer and says he doesn't know yet whether a sabbatical would mean he would miss next year's Super Rugby.

Meanwhile the All Blacks have started trying to build depth in the hooker position, bringing in "apprentices" to train with the team over the next few weeks.
