No need to convince Rooney to stay at Old Trafford: Moyes

With speculation over the future of Wayne Rooney continuing, Manchester United manager David Moyes says he doesn't have to convince the striker to stay at Old Trafford.

Asked what Rooney's reaction had been to Manchester United turning down a reputed bid of almost $60 million rom Premier League rivals Chelsea, Moyes replied that he didn't know as he hadn't asked him.

Asked after a one all drew with AIK Stockholm in a pre-seaon match in Stockholm whether he would have to convince Rooney to stay, Moyes said no-one needed to be convinced to stay at Old Trafford.

But the former Manchester United player Paul Ince, who's now manager at Blackpool, says Rooney must force his departure if he wants to leave the club.

Ince says it would be good know whether Rooney wants to remain at Old Trafford or move on.

The Premier League kicks off in just over a week, with United playing Swansea in their season opener.
