Auckland tennis player Marina Erakovic has been beaten in the first round of the Southern California Open in Carlsbad.
Erakovic was beaten in straight sets by Urszula Radwanska of Poland, a player ranked 39 places higher than her.
It's the second straight week Erakovic has been beaten in the first round of a hard court event in California as she prepares for the US Open next month.
