IAAF promises aggressive drug testing

7:02 am on 31 July 2013

The International Association of Athletics Federations is determined to crack down on drug-taking in the sport after two leading sprinters tested positive this month.

Following the recent positive drug tests provided by the American Tyson Gay and Jamaica's Asafa Powell, the IAAF's vice president Sebastian Coe says they're taking the drugs issue more seriously than ever, although it's unrealistic to think they'll ever be free of drugs in sports.

Gay and Powell have withdrawn from the world track and field championships coming up next month in Moscow, which is hosting its first major athletics event since the 1980 Olympics.
