Tall Blacks beat Cameroon

5:58 am on 29 July 2013

The New Zealand men's basketball team has beaten Cameroon 63-62 in their latest match on tour in China.

Skipper Mika Vukona slotted one of his two free-throws in the dying seconds to win the game.

That was exactly the same score the NZ men lost to China by earlier this weekend, when local legend Wang Zhizhi scored on the final buzzer.

The Kiwis had their hands full with the athletic Africans, ranked 43 in the world against New Zealand's 18, who were led by NBA forward Luc Richard Mbah a Moute of the Sacramento Kings.

Corey Webster top scored with 13 points and BJ Anthony had 11.

The Tall Blacks second match in the 4-team tournament is against a team from Toronto tonight.

The eight-game tour of China is preparation for the FIBA Oceania Championship home-and-away series against Australia.
