Liverpool beats Victory, Suarez not for sale

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard slotted a first-half goal and Iago Aspas a second in injury-time to secure a 2-0 win over the Melbourne Victory last night in front of more than 95,000 fans at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The biggest roar of the night was reserved for the 72nd minute introduction of controversial striker Luis Suarez, who set up the second goal with his typical Uruguayan trickery.

Suarez, who was the second top scorer in the Premier League with 23 goals last season, says he wants to leave Liverpool to play in Spain, blaming the British media for making his life impossible in England.

The 26 year who old was banned for a record 10 matches in April for biting is reportedly the subject of a 40 million pound transfer offer from London club Arsenal, although Liverpool has made it clear Suarez is not for sale.
